I am a senior interior architect with over twenty years of experience in design and construction. I have managed my own successful business Graphic Beam (formerly Archon Design) for twenty years. For the first ten years of operating my business, I pitched and secured interior government contracts, specialised in high-end residential in the Eastern Suburbs and employed 3-4 people.
In the past ten years, I scaled down my business to working autonomously part-time in high-end residential and small corporate projects on the Lower North Shore so that I had the flexibility to raise my family. Now that my family is older I am making a career change to design thinking, UX Design and agile, which compliment my strengths.
I have just completed a full-time UX Design course which has been a warm-up back into teamwork and out of an autonomous working environment. Through the course, I have also been exposed to different project frameworks including agile. It is clear to me the UX research and design process can be applied to any industry in need of design.
To merge my extensive design skills with this newly discovered knowledge has been empowering and I am keen to put this knowledge into more practice.
